Photoshop Level 2

This two-day course will bring your Photoshop skills to the next level. Using advanced techniques and state-of-the-art work-flows, we'll help you achieve expert level as a Photoshop user.

The keywords for this secondary Photoshop course are productivity and quality. During a two-day course, you’ll be working with more complex and creative documents and use functions like layer comps and layer groups, realistic painting tools, create custom brushes, and more.

  • create complex composites, using a variety of functions
  • get an updated, hands-on run-down of new features like the Camera Raw Smart Filter, Content Aware Crop, Match Font and Face Aware Liquify, and more

Building on the contents of Photoshop level 1, you’ll bring your Photoshop skills to the next level utilizing essential productivity and quality enhancement features.

Course Format

This is a classroom based, instructor led course, taking place in Austin, Texas.

  • Remember to bring your own computer (BYOC!)
  • The course is offered on a first come first serve basis, and space is limited!

This is a two-day course, lasting from 9am to 4pm each day. We usually do a 1-hour lunch break at noon, and additional morning and afternoon breaks.

What You Learn

These are the  main topics of the Photoshop level 2 course:

  • Work with advanced compositing, masks and layers
  • Work with text layers and the different type toolsImage of the Type Tool
  • Understand and use the Curves panel for image corrections
  • Using Smart Objects and Smart Filters for visual effects and non-destructive editing
  • Explore the many Content Aware features of Photoshop
  • Make panoramas using Photomerge, funny portraits using Face Aware Liquify,
  • Knock out complex image backgrounds, like hair and fur, using the Select and Mask feature
  • Understand the concept of Camera Raw, and learn how to enhance any photograph using Camera Raw editing techniques
  • Learn the vector drawing tools and how they can be useful in Photoshop
  • Creating artwork using Mixer Brush tool and the Oil Paint filter and other filters
  • Create mock-ups for print projects, apps and web designs, using several tools and functions, like multiple artboards, Vanishing Point and Smart ObjectsImage of the Magic Wand tool.
  • Export assets like backgrounds, icons and buttons for use in interactive projects
  • Introduction to GIF animations
  • Customize the user interface and access advanced features hidden in panels and dialogue boxes


This course is building on the contents of the Photoshop level 1 course, and we recommend taking the Level 1 course first, even if you have some previous experience with Photoshop.

What You Need To Bring

This is a BYOC class, so students must bring their own computer (Mac or PC) running the necessary software.

If you don’t own a Creative Cloud license, you can buy a subscription at Adobe.com, or download the free trial version. We will be more than glad to help you with download, installation and set-up instructions ahead of the course.

Also, please remember to bring any extra equipment necessary to make your computer work, like power adaptor, your favorite mouse/pointing device, etc.

We will supply you with all the necessary files to complete lessons and exercises, but feel free to bring some of your own works files if you have them.
